Farm Walks

We have two farm locations. 451 Canard Street and 1736 Church Street. You are welcome to come to the farm with your friends or family anytime for a walk, snowshoe or bike about. Please stick to field roadways for your walk/bike. It is best to leave your animal friends home; however, if they must join you, they must be on a lease at all times.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask. You can post pictures and questions anytime and we will answer as soon as we are able. TapRoot is a working farm so please be aware of electric fences, tractors, animals, etc. #taprootfarmwalk

Dinners at the Farm

Throughout the year we host food events at the farm as a way to honour the connections between the farm, the farm team and everyone who eats. Follow our facebook page for dates of our farm events. Our farm dinners include a farm tour. They are offered rain or shine. Come join us for dinner. #taprootfarmdinners

Vacation at the Farm

The Swallow’s Nest

Like a cottage or cabin rental, a farm stay is a wonderful getaway from urban living. Located minutes from Wolfville, Swallow’s Nest is in the heart of Nova Scotia’s principle farming region – the Annapolis Valley.

During your entire stay at Swallow’s Nest you’ll enjoy the nearness of Taproot Farms’ organic orchards, fields, and animals. You can watch the daily routine of a working family farm. But don’t worry, there’ll be no nagging chores–you’ll be on a relaxing vacation!

The ample room at Swallow’s Nest makes it an ideal location to share with friends and family. Located in a private setting at the end of a country lane on TapRoot Farms, it’s a 5-minute walk from the main farmhouse.

We welcome friendly, well mannered four-legged members of the family. Choosing Swallow’s Nest for your vacation means there’s no need for any separation anxiety for you, your kids, or your pet.

Our farmstay is especially suited for families with young children. We have three children of our own who can help your kids make a strong and lasting connection between food, farms, and fun.

If you like, you will be able to collect eggs, visit the pigs or piglets, and take walks through the orchard and trails. We can also arrange for you to work alongside us for an hour or a few hours. We can support you in harvesting a few crops for your family to enjoy for lunch or supper. Now, that’s fresh!

  • Easily accommodates 2 sets of adults in private bedrooms (1 king and 1 queen).
  • Children can enjoy sharing a dorm with lots of comfortable beds and their own living-play area on the second floor.
  • Two bathrooms and a large sauna.
  • Wireless Internet.
  • Crib is available.

We are happy to discuss any special needs your family may have.
