The Exciting news is we have started planting the new crop for this year. It has been a full on experience trying to source all the required input to start the season this year. Luckily we ordered our seed and soil very early, pre-pandemic 2 weeks was a long time to wait for supplies, now it is 8 to 10 weeks on most items. It is good to have understanding of the new reality. So we planted, I am guessing, 40 trays of spinach. We have some very rigid plastic greenhouse trays that can be used basically forever, that have 200 cells in them, so we no longer need to buy cheap flimsy plastic trays that only last for a year or two. So in each cell we plant 3 spinach seeds, then when they have enough of a root system we pluck em out and plant in a Tunnel so we will all have a good “feed’ of spinach in early May. Also, we took the last of the boy pigs to the butcher this week. We do not castrate our pigs as it requires a knife and I not really keen on the idea. So… we make sure that they go to market first to avoid the strong flavor that boys will give you, I think it is a testosterone thing that gives it that flavor.
