I like to plan my shopping for the week, when is the share list available?
Share contents will be posted on the blog – Blog – TapRoot Farms each week on Fridays for the following week. Sometimes we have to change an item because of harvest and/or availability.
Can I pick/change what's in my share?
We put great thought into each share box and try our best to keep the share varied and useful. We do offer a Swap Box at most locations; this box will have items in it that you can swap.
How do I pick up my share?
Your produce arrives in a box with a label, either bring along your own bag or box and leave behind the TapRoot box or take the box and bring it back the following week. At each location there is a list, your name will be on it for the location you are registered for, please find your name and check it off when you pick up.
Can I purchase additional items with my share?
Yes, each week you will have the opportunity to add additional items to your CSA box delivery. You can do this by ordering from the Noggins Corner Farm Online Shop. Together with our family farm, Noggins, we want to make it easy for you to eat locally and direct from the farm.
What happens if I miss/forget my share?
If you do not collect your share within the pick-up time posted on the website, it will be donated unless other arrangements have been made with Katelyn prior to this time or you may plan for someone else to pick up in your place.
Weather Events: What happens?
In the event of a winter storm, we will try to decide about deliveries as early as possible. Bottom line: we don’t want anyone to venture out if it is not safe. We will contact you via email, and post on our Facebook page with updates.
What if something in my share is spoiled? TapRoot’s Bad Apple Policy
You may find something in your box that is not up to par as far as quality goes. If you do, we ask that you take a picture of the culprit and email it to: csa@taprootfarms.ca with your name, delivery location, with the subject heading “Bad Apple.” The following week of delivery, we will send a replacement (of the same item, or something of equivalent value).
We need to know right away if there is a quality issue so that we can correct it as soon as possible. Bad Apple requests can only be honoured within the week that they happen. We thank you for your help in keeping our quality up to standard!
What if something in my share is missing?
Occasionally it does happen that something is missing from your share box. Items on the list may change from day-to-day, depending on harvest and availability. If something is missing from your share, please email and let us know right away. Generally, we will send along the missing item the following week and label your share with your name.
Can I visit the farm?
The farm is open to you at any time. Anytime you are in the area, feel free to swing in, go for a walk around the ponds, check in the greenhouse, or watch the pigs, chickens, cattle, ducks and goats graze around the fields. The two farm locations are 1736 Church Street and 451 Canard Street.
Are all the vegetables organic?
We grow mostly certified organic produce with the exception of corn, cherries, and apples. In the veggie share we will occasionally put in produce from other local farmers that may not be organic.
What do we feed the animals?
Our animals are fed with non-GMO grain and vegetable waste.
How many people work on the farm?
We employ approximately 30 people from April to December, and have about 14 employees, who work with us the full year. Most of our farmers have been coming back to the farm year after year since the CSA started.
What happens if the CSA is not working for us?
We ask that you first try to find someone to take over your share, ask a friend, coworker, or family member. Communicate with the farm as soon as possible if you choose to stop your share for whatever reason.
