Week 21 August 22- 27
Week 21 August 22 - 27
Check out the share list HERE
Purple carrots, bunched and washed for shares. Ready to eat!
There are two extra items in your shares this week. Green onions and organic corn. Josh couldn't help himself with so much ready right now, and added these items at the last minute. We hope you enjoy them.
You have received ground cherries in your share boxes, they are the small orange fruit in the papery husk. They are awesome on their own, we ate ours in one sitting. They have a really nice flavour, some say like pineapple.
Starting next week we will have dill pickle packs on the add on list. This box contains all the produce you need to make 8 quarts of dill pickles: You just need vinegar, salt, jars and lids. There are 10 lbs of pickling cucumbers, 6-8 stems of dill, 1-2 heads of garlic and a recipe. Stock up on your jars this weekend and get pickling!
If you still have zucchini I would recommend making fritters with them. Simply grate the zucchini, around two cups worth, and put it in a bowl. A few pinches of salt, a half cup of flour, and some pepper. From there you can add other vegetables (potato, carrot etc), eggs, and spices. I was out of eggs and they worked great anyway. Get a pan with oil nice with hot, add the fritters 1/4 cup at a time. Cook like you would pancakes. I ate mine with some lemon mayo. I mixed my toddlers into some noodles with butter and he loved it.
This was a big animal week. We took in rabbits, a beef, chickens (brig cut into pieces), and ducks. The beef has to hang for two weeks, and then we will have steak, and lean ground beef.
Temporary TapRoot Farms Egg Shortage - Week 4
We are sorry to say that we still have a temporary egg shortage. We are reducing your egg shares until we have more eggs.
The new hens have not starting laying yet. We will then make up the missing eggs to you one they do!
Thank you for your understanding!
