TapRoot CSA - Corn u-pick and pizza party

There are a few farm events going on this weekend.

1) Pizza party at the community wood fired oven in Dartmouth - more information below. The weather is looking good for a party in the park. Make sure to read the details about what to bring - spoiler - it's everything :)

2) Corn u-pick Saturday and Sunday! Please come to the farm over the weekend and harvest corn. We have also added it to add on's in 1 dozen and 5 dozen sizes.

Saturday and Sunday, September 9-10th, 9 AM - 7 PM

Corn U-pick, $2.50/ dozen

Location - Between Canard street and Saxon street there is a road. It is called Clark lane. On GPS I believe it is called Wellington Dyke rd. Wellington Dyke Rd can trick you because it starts at Church street and then you do a left onto Canard and then a right on Clark Lane (Wellington Dyke). It is a dirt road. Half way down we will have signs to the field. LOOK FOR THE SIGNS! There is grain corn at the end of the road that is NOT OURS!

Here is the post that Patricia originally posted to Facebook about the corn situation.

So, here is the situation. We have corn. We have not had the sales we were expecting because those who we expected to purchase from us are for some unknown reason not purchasing. This provides a new opportunity to offer u-pick sweet corn. We've never done this. Saturday and Sunday from 9 am - 7 pm we will host anyone who wishes to harvest corn.

We invite you to pay $2.50 per dozen. We also invite anyone who identifies as food insecure to harvest for themselves or harvest for others and to pay what you can. (No need to identify to us, just if you self identify then please come harvest for your use or the use of others needing it).  Food banks and gleaning groups are welcome. Many thanks!

Sunday, September 10th, 4-6 PM

We are super excited to be offering this event again this year.

Join us for an afternoon at the Leighton Dillman Park Oven Garden and Orchard, 36 Park Ave, Dartmouth. Come for 4 and plan to be baking and eating until 6 or so. Last year we had quite a line up, so this year we will be giving out tickets when you arrive, your ticket will be called up and then you will be able to come make and bake your pizza. Depending on how many members want to come there may be a bit of a wait, so best to bring a blanket, some snacks, and plan to hang out in the beautiful park. Long time CSA member and friend of the farm, Lorrie Rand, will lead us in baking our own pizzas in the wood fired community oven. Bring all of your fixings or pizza (dough, toppings, plates, silverware). If you have extra toppings you can leave them at the table to share with others. Thin crust style pizza and keeping the toppings light works best in the wood fired oven. We will bring tomatoes to share. There is a water spout in the park but water bottles or other drinks are a good idea.

More information about the oven and how it works at : www.parkoven.ca/planning/

Looking forward to seeing you there!

You are still invited to come even if you haven't registered.
