Farm Events

You are always welcome to come to the farm for a walk and to visit the animals!

We ask that you consider leaving a few dollars behind to help with the costs incurred when offering these events. There is a payment box in the farm stand at the end of the driveway. Thanks so much! It is best for us if you keep your pets at home during these events. See you on the farm!


April 2017

Saturday, April 8th - 12:00-2:00 PM
Spring CSA Member Gathering
Join us at 441 Canard street for homemade soup and fresh bread, an informal Q and A from Josh and Patricia as well as a farm update and plans for the season. Stay and take part in our field walk after lunch. RSVP if you are able, so we know how much soup to make.

Field Walk with your TapRoot Farmers
Take a walk with Patricia and Josh of TapRoot Farms. Join us as we wander through the fields, tunnels, greenhouses, and animal barn at 451 Canard Street. Come back throughout the year and see how much the farm changes, season to season.
Guided tour starts at 2:00 PM. Wear appropriate clothing and footwear for walking through fields.We will walk rain or shine. Large wheeled strollers or backpacks are best. For our on farm food safety it's best to leave the four legged friends at home.

Sunday, May 14th - 11:00-1:00 PM
Mothers Day Brunch and Farm Walk
Join us for this members only event at TapRoot Farms. A mothers day brunch to celebrate all the great mothers out there. Pay what you can with a $10 per person suggested donation (Come treat your mom!).
1736 Church street, Port Williams. We will eat outside under a tunnel (open to the outside at both ends, make sure to layer up if we have a cool day!) Let us know if you plan on coming. The Farm walk will begin at 12:00 after brunch.

Father's Day Garden Party, BBQ, and Field Walk
Come celebrate great father's at our members only Father's Day garden party and BBQ. Meet at 1736 Church street, Port Williams for the BBQ. We will start eating at 12:30. Stay for the farm walk after lunch. Suggested donation of $8 per person for the BBQ and drinks (non-alcoholic). RSVP so we know how many to expect. Farm walk will start at 1:30 PM

TapRoot Jamaican Jerk Pig Roast
Chef Michael Howell prepares a meal with ingredients gathered on the farm with a nod to cooking seasonally. You are greeted by the family upon arrival and graze upon your appetizer during your walk about the farm. Finally join us at the harvest table in the field for a spectacular lunch of salads, vegetables, the pork, and dessert.

Friday, August 4th-7th
TapRoot Days
Join us at TapRoot farms for a weekend of harvest, food and fun. From Friday thru to Monday come to the farm for a long weekend of farm life. Camp, book a room, rent our guest house or come for the day. Join in the harvest of sweet cherries and garlic, relax with a boxed lunch prepared by us. Come for the corn boil. Reserve a seat at the Jamaican Jerk Pig Roast. Come be here on the farm. See your options and register for events here.

U-Pick Sweet Cherries
Come on Saturday August 5th to u-pick sweet cherries. $2 per pound. Meet us at 451 Canard Street and we will head to the cherries together. The ticket included 5lbs of cherries. If you harvest more, you are invited to pay cash at the farm. Register for this event here.

Boxed Picnic Lunch
Want to stay at the farm for an afternoon picnic? We will have your boxes picnic lunch ready for you. ind a spot on the farm and relax after harvesting sweet cherrie sand before the garlic harvest begins. To keep it simple this boxed lunch will be dairy, gluten, meat, and sugar free. Collect at the farm house, 441 Canard Street, after 12 noon. Register for this event here.
 
Saturday, August 5th - 3:00 PM
Garlic Harvest
Join us Saturday August 5th at 3:00 PM to harvest garlic. You are invited to help harvest or to u-pick. U-pick is $2 per head. This ticket includes 10 heads. If you wish to u-pick more you can pay cash at the farm. Register for this events here.

Monday, August 7th - 10:00 - 12:00 noon
Flax Harvest
Come be part of the local clothing movement and help harvest flax! August 7th at 10AM in the flax field at 451 Canard Street with a corn boil to follow. The first step is to get the flax out of the field, which is where you come in. We are so excited to have you. Wear sturdy footwear and a hat if it's sunny.
 
Monday, August 7th - 12:00 noon.
Corn Boil
Join us on Monday August 7th for a corn boil. Come to 441 Canard street to the back garden to share some fresh corn on the cob. $5 per person. Register for this event here.

Sunday, September 10th - 4:00 - 6:00 PM
TapRoot Member Pizza Night in the park
Last year this event went really well and we're excited to be offering it again! CSA members, join us for an afternoon/evening at the Leighton Dillman Park Oven Garden and Orchard, 36 Park Ave, Dartmouth, NS. Come for 4 PM and plan to be baking and eating until 6 or so. Long time CSA member and friend of the farm, Lorrie Rand, will lead us in baking our own pizzas in the wood fired community oven. Bring all of your fixings for pizza (dough, toppings, plates, silverwear). TapRoot will have tomatoes to share. We will be there to answer any questions you may have about the CSA and farm.
