“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately.
To front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
Henry David Thoreau (1817 - 1862), from Walden’s Pond
A camp or rural hut has come to symbolize peace and quiet and the quest to “get away from it all”. At TapRoot’s Walden Camp you can take a welcome break from technology and the hectic pace of daily life.
TapRoot Farms has a little camp on one of its smaller ponds, available for a short or long stay. Whether you come alone, with your significant other, or with a few friends or family members, the camp provides a place to sleep and be warmed by the stove. A walking trail is at your doorstep. A stay at TapRoot Farms’ Walden Camp offers unparalleled opportunities to watch, listen, and learn from nature.
There is room to add a tent or two. The site includes an outhouse, while an indoor toilet and shower is located within a 2-minute walk to the farm house.
The private site includes a fire pit, picnic table, 3/4 bed, wood fired stove, firewood, gas stove with propane, as well as some dishes, cutlery and pots. Drinking water is available at the farm house to fill a large water jug. Guests are asked to bring their own bedding.
The nightly rate for the TapRoot Walden Camp is $40.00 per night. The Camp is available year round with drive-in access depending on the weather and the conditions.
If you are considering traveling or vacationing with a larger group the combination of a Swallows’ Nest and campsite rental can provide two unique experiences at one spot, as well as the opportunity to share these two distinct facilities within the context of a farm-stay. Both rentals on the farm are located near numerous things to see and do in the Annapolis Valley.
Sincerely, Patricia & Josh and Family
